[opensuse] IPV6, dhclient and NetworkManagers
Hello, I have a Laptop here with a WiFi and an ethernet card. Both work flawlessly… if I remove IPV6. I removed IPV6 in YaST's Network Pane. Unfortunately this setting is only considered with the ethernet interface. When activating the wireless interface, 'dhclient' is run. And dhclient somehow always runs with IPV6. If I bring up the wireless interface manually, which allows me to replace dhclient with 'dhcpcd' instead of dhclient, everything works. What else than IPV6 could be the problem? How could I remove IPV6 from the system, without compiling a custom kernel? I am confused. How did you come to the conclusion that IPv6 is the problem? What steps did you take? What did you try that *didn't* work? Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

He also states that if he replaces dhclient with 'dhcpcd' it works. That would seem to be the more profitable avenue to investigate. That being said, ipv6 can still cause a lot slow-downs and time-outs, in odd places. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
