Hi all, Are there any owners of NVidia Riva TNT2 32 AGP card? How does it work? I am about to buy one - should I buy this? Are there any known issues of SL-8.0 with this? [X4.2 with this?]. I couldn't locate anything radical on the net - the search yielded full support from SL as well as NVidia's site - but I would love an actually performance review from a non-commercial geek like me. Yes, you can send me SMS through email at the bplmobile address below :-) Thanks, Rohit -- (+91-22-692) 2101 D2, floor-3, Chand : SE : TLSI : 3578 SuSE 8.0 2.4-18-4GB on i686 : sendmail-8.9.3-42 : pine-4.44-121 rohit.sharma@iitbombay.org [maximus_two@yahoo.com] 9821394599@bplmobile.com ********************************************************* Disclaimer This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and is protected by law. You could just start a flame war with this... :o) I have a TNT2 Ultra AGP card in my box and it works very well. Decent performance, works with all games, etc. I have. NVidia keep their drivers right up to date, and are generally the most compatible. The latest Unreal Tournament only works with nVidia cards because other drivers don't have all required features supported. So you could do a lot worse. On the other hand, the drivers are closed and you have to go and download and install them yourself. It normally works, but when it doesn't they're a bugger to fix because no one really knows how they work. Personally I'd say go with NVidia, because I've never had a problem making my card work. Others, who have suffered, will tell you not to touch it with a barge pole. -- 4:41pm up 68 days, 7:08, 2 users, load average: 0.08, 0.05, 0.01

It was a Diamond Viper 770 Ultra. I recently replaced it with an ATI Radeon 7500 64M DDR card. They are close to the same price and I can say that preformance with the ATI card rocks. If I had a vote I would say get the ATI card. I'm much happier with it. :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I tell you what you should see.
I am running this system with a tnt2 ultra, and have never had any problems with it, as well as never having had any real problems installing the driver. I also have a Radeon 7500 sitting here on my desk waiting to go in because I know it performs a little better in the Q3 department. At the moment though I am debating chuckin' them both to get an up to date nvidia board like a geForce 4 or something. Why you ask??...because the linux version of UT 2003 won't run on anything less than a geforce card and as of yet is not compatible with the current ati radeon 7500 driver set. So if you plan on getting the newest Unreal Tournament in 3 days, then you had better have a better card than a tnt2 to go with it. Cheers On Mon, 2002-09-30 at 07:54, Rohit wrote:

I had fairly good success with my RivaTNT2. Once I had the Linux drivers (downloaded from nVidia) installed I got decent performance. I upgraded to a GeForce a while ago, and again have no issues with using the card... as long as I get the latest drivers form the nVidia site and intall them manually... the ones you get via YOU just don't cut it.
