Quick question: can you run StarOffice as a program from KDE, or must you let it take over your desktop? Do you need to know anything particular to do that? (I would prefer to just run their word processor, and nothing else, and run it as a program, but I guess that's not possible. Please let me know if I'm wrong.) TIA --doug

I've been running SO 5.1 and SO 5.2 from within KDE, so I get a desktop within a desktop. I don't know how to set up SO as your primary desktop. That's an interesting idea - one approach to a 'simplified Linux' for the office worker who doesn't need anything else... I've also heard that SO 6.0 will have 'stand-alone' WP application, for faster loading and smaller footprint... Rick Green

In .xinitrc just exec soffice, and you're there -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.
