Hmm Why 15.4 FF jump from 102 -> 115 mid-release when 102.X is still ESR?
All, Why did Leap 15.4 jump from Firefox ESR 102 to Firefox 115 Mid-Release? I though the policy was to stick with ESR while it was still under support by Mozilla? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

On the upside, 115 isn't that bad except for the damn annoying Extensions toolbar icon they make intentionally difficult to remove. Simply disable it using the CSS stylesheet, e.g. In about:config, enable: toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets Then in ~/.mozilla/firefox/yourprovile/chrome//userChrome.css add: /* get rid of extensions icon */ #unified-extensions-button, #unified-extensions-button > .toolbarbutton-icon { width: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important; } Now 115 is reasonable usable. -- David C. Hi, We are doing this ESR jump every year. Usually this happened later in the cycle, but this time we were ready a bit earlier. I hope people enjoy the newer version. :) Ciao, Marcus On Wed, Jul 19, 2023 at 06:29:54PM -0500, David C. Rankin wrote:

Thank you Marcus, I was wondering if 102.13 was going to be the last, but after the 115 install I went to Mozilla to check ESR and they are still recommending 102.13 - that's what prompted the confusion. I usually look for a note from Mozilla that the ESR versions is changing -- I guess you are ahead of the game this time. 115 is enjoyable once you turn off all the cruft, ads, popups, search suggestions, etc.. they keep trying to force in front of your face. There are UI improvements in 115 - the edit-boxes are now back to normal size instead of the horrible first cut on Gtk+3 being 2X normal size -- so you get some valuable screen real-estate returned in this version (a rare but nice benefit) -- David C. What's wrong with that being there, other than it looks pathetic and ridiculous?

It looks pathetic and ridiculous and takes up a slot on the toolbar I use for other things :)
How much stuff do you toss up there? I have 4 extensions/add-ons that each have an icon, and I've got lots more room for other stuff if I want.

Bookmarks, library, downloads, Ublock-origins, NoScript and if I'm lazy the settings gear. But I'm also on a laptop... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
