[opensuse] Resizing btrfs rootfilesystem with free space in front of the existing partition
Is there any tool that is able to do this task ? Or do have to backup and restore the complete filesystem ? And how to handle the subvolumes in that case ? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

parted should be able to do it. You may have to first move the whole filesystem (=same size) into the empty space and then extend it into the new empty space behind. I doubt that you will be able to do it when the filesystem is in use. So either boot the rescue system or use something like Knoppix which gives you a UI. Make a backup beforehand. Even when the operation is possible doesn't mean that you can do it without making a mistake or maybe there is a power outage in the middle or something like that.
