-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Finally PyGTK 2.4.0 has been released. I've build a SuSE 9.1 experimental rpm for GTK 2.4.x . It is an update/adaptation of SuSE 9.1 spec file for 2.2.0 version. The lack of this python-gtk binding for gtk-2.4.x has been reported as the cause of some problems for suse GTK-2.4.x users. I would appreciate some feedback about problems with new python-gtk binding, before upload it to my apt repository (suser-gbv). You can check it here: ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-gbv/testing/SuSE_9.1 Thanks Guillermo - -- Guillermo Ballester Valor gbv@oxixares.com Ogijares, Granada SPAIN Linux user #117181. Thanks for doing this. Do you know if it can coexist with python-gtk-2.0.0? If you get carried away feel free to do the same for wxpython 2.5.x ... -- Stephen If your desktop gets out of control easily, you probably have too much stuff on it that doesn't need to be there. I'm afraid the answer is not. SuSE (and mine) rpms has binding code for gtk 1.x and 2.x, but if you install gtk2 2.4.x then the binding for 2.x should match your gtk2 version.

I'll see. Guillermo

You have to download wxPython2.5.2.*.src.rpm or wxPython2.5.2.tar.bz2 (there's a spec file in the tarbz2) from wxPython web site, install it and build it with rpmbuild. That's what I did. It works perfectly, all files to the right place. Regis

Under Gentoo I was running into problems when I wanted audacity on my system, which was built with an earlier version of wxPython. I see that Suse's version of audacity depends on libwx_gtk2-2.4.so.0, so the issue would be there too. Maybe the solution is to install (not upgrade from stable) some of the more bleeding edge versions of these programs in /usr/local. -- Stephen If your desktop gets out of control easily, you probably have too much stuff on it that doesn't need to be there.
