Hi, I have a large archive of DAT tapes that I would like to copy onto CD's or DVD's. I have a DAT tape and a DVD writer attached to my machine. I haven't written CD's or DVD's before. I will appreciate any help or directions. TIA Shoshana

You will have to do some setup to get your CD-RW ready for burning. This is well documented in the CD-Writing HOWTO. Since SuSE 7.3, most of the setup of the CD-RW devices is done by the install program including loading the ide-scsi module at boot. Since the amount of data on DAT tape usually far exceeds what can fit on a CD, you'll need to copy chunks of data to your hard disk first, then burn it to CD and repeat until you have tranferred all your data. I haven't tried DVD burning (since I don't have a DVD burner) so I can't give you any hints on that. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Right behind you, I see the millions Got spam?
