15:3: Is there any delays in updates/patches due to SLE dependency compared to before (15.2)?
hello list is there actually any impact in delays or release handling of patches updates in leap 15.3 now that we have stronger(?) ties to SLE? are packages that are coming in from for example the SLE backports update repo such as todays chromium release having a larger delay than the situation on still leap 15.2? do we have different maintainers and people in charge for this package for example, or does it not really matter? I wondered about google chromium having released the chromium package on june 17th already to the public, see: <https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2021/06/stable-channel-update-for-desktop_17.html>
https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2021/06/stable-channel-update-for-desk...
the package being shown as Name : chromium Version : 91.0.4472.114 Release : bp153.2.13.1 Architecture: x86_64 Install Date: Mon Jun 28 21:24:34 2021 Group : Unspecified Size : 346112298 License : BSD-3-Clause AND LGPL-2.1-or-later Signature : RSA/SHA256, Tue Jun 22 20:36:12 2021, Key ID 9c214d4065176565 Source RPM : chromium-91.0.4472.114-bp153.2.13.1.src.rpm Build Date : Tue Jun 22 20:24:39 2021 Build Host : lamb77 being compiled on june 22nd already, thats still 6 days in the past from today, as the release directories show the file date from today <https://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.3/backports/x86_64/?C=M;O=D>

chromium-91.0.4472.114-bp153.2.13.1.x86_64.rpm 28-Jun-2021 13:10 96M The google chromium blog post and the changelog as well talking about WebGL exploited as one of the major reasons for this release, and exploits circulating in the wild and google being aware of it. Trying to find out if linux or more specific opensuse leap is actually fitting my needs with its updates and patches concept and time spans to actual availability. Having observed more desktop computing on the windows os side of things, the chromium and google chrome update were available on the original blog post release date, june 17th. Does opensuse or suse as the commercial company backing opensuse, and with its maybe heavier ties with leap now from 15.3 on, i am wondering if i am really protected to my needs, just looking at this chromium as an example here. ty.

Yes and No. SLES imported updates will appear close to immediately. For the rest...

The problem for this is that openqa for 15.3 is still RED since the beginning and I manually override approvals while struggling to get it GREEN. As long as its not GREEN there will be delays. Ciao, Marcus
