I find that I can only create pdf files if I'm using a KDE-based program like Kedit or Kate or KWrite, but not in StarOffice, OpenOffice or Word (via CrossOver Office). Has anyone been able to create a pdf with any other program? T -- Tom Nielsen Neuro Logic Systems 805.389.5435 x18 www.neuro-logic.com

Tom, In SO or OO.o, run "spadmin," select "Add Printer" then select the pdf writer (not at my linux box so can't give you exact description, but you'll see it). Then, when you select "print", use the drop down menu in the dialog box to select your pdf writer. Regards, Charles __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? SO won't let me access the printer selections. I see the pdf option there, but the add printer button is grayed out. Thoughts? Tom On Thu, 2002-06-13 at 09:38, Charles Griffin wrote:

Another way of doing this is via CUPS and Kprinter. The latter is extremely powerfull as it allows KDE and non kde apps to be redirect to pdf, email as attached pdf, and even fax., print to file and print to printer. The realy cool part is that you can set up pseudo printers, which are any linux apps that take --stdin. I have it currently set up with OpenOffice, StarOffice, Acroread, and Mozilla. Works like a charm, I can print, create pdfs email attachments, and fax directly from all these applications and more. See the printing section under kde.org Its a wickedly reliable solution too. I have just completed yet another pdf using LyX to create the document then exporting it to pdf format. There is a bit of adjustment to using LyX but it is well worth it. I love this program. -- Time is the best teacher. Unfortunately it kills all it's students.
