Bingo! That was it exactly. I couldn't remember the "why", just the "how to fix it". I always set my removables to allow for user mount/umount because I don't use root 'cept for admin

I started using Linux for a month ago, and I still have lots of questions...Would you mind telling me how to manually mount the CD ROM Drive to install Applixware as you indicated?
