check codeweavers.com they make the best version so far. Of course the best of the best will cost you. If you want only free check winehq.org. If you want to try wine you can either download it or use the copy that came on your suse cd/dvd. If you want games check into wineX at transgaming.com John jtorres@netco.net.co wrote:

What do you want to do: 1. Run Linux under Windows (cygwin or uwin but not Linux) 2. Run Windows Under Linux (VMWare, Win4Lin) 3. Run some Windows applications under Linux (WINE & Crossover Office). On 30 Aug 2002 at 15:19, Juan Francisco Torres Chacon wrote:

Well, interesting question. I think most of us (linux users) would like to run some Win applications. I really dont know why would anyone be interested in running full Win.... Anyway. I want to run some win applications. Problem is I dont know if they will run, so I will need the alternative of having full Win running and inside it, running the applications.... -------------------------------------------------------- Juan Francisco Torres Ch. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry Feldman" <gerald.feldman@hp.com> To: <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Sent: Friday, August 30, 2002 3:36 PM Subject: Re: [SLE] WIndows Emulator What do you want to do: 1. I have not used VMWare, but I have Crossover Office and have used Win4Lin. Many Windows applications should run under WINE (freeware) or Crossover Office (commercial version of WINE cost about $50 US http://www.codeweavers.com). This would be my first choice. Win4Lin is a light weight virtual machine that runs as a Linux process. You would need to install a version of Windows9x under Win4Lin. You can run most Windows applications under Win4Lin. Win4Lin does not yet run Windows XP or Windows 2k or NT. One advantage of Win4Lin is that it uses the native Linux file system. So any file you create under a Win4Lin is readily available to Linux. (http://www.netraverse.com about $90 US). VMWare is a heavy weight virtual machine. You can run multiple Windows and Linux OSs under VMWare. A demo version is included with the SuSE distribution. You can use either Windows2K or Linux as the VMWare host. Each OS is separate, so that sharing files between them is more difficult than in Win4Lin or WINE. (http://www.vmware.com about $300 US).
