[SuSE Linux] C++ compiler
Hi Y'all there was a post here not long ago that someone's g++ gave: configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables. when running a configure script. Mine's doin' it too! The config script is one for korganizer 1.1. The suggested solution was to make sure gpp was installed. Unfortunately, that solution doesn't solve the problem for me. I went through yast and made sure i had everything possible relating to c++ installed and I'm stumped. Help! have a look (this is for compiling wvdial) 1) To be able to compile the source in SuSE 5.3 youll first need to start yast and install gpp which is a C++ compiler its in the development section of packages. yast choose and install packages>change create configuration>development>gpp GNU C++ compiler F-10 >save configuration>load configuration>start installion rob Linux Home page <A HREF="http://www.connix.com/~dizzy73/LBM.htm</A">http://www.connix.com/~dizzy73/LBM.htm</A> Andy Ford wrote:

actually gpp has been installed all along. I even did a reinstall. I wonder if it's a conflict between libgpp and libgpp27 or maybe not a conflict but the compiler finding one first when it needs to find the other first... nope tried it with either installed but not the other (know what I mean? :)

This is a long shot... but look in /var/run there may be a left over(dead) pid Im probably wayyy off but check it anyway I doubt if the compiler would be a process but I had a similar problem that drove me nuts with diald and all along it was a dead pid in /var/run rob Linux Homepage <A HREF="http://www.connix.com/~dizzy73/LBM.htm</A">http://www.connix.com/~dizzy73/LBM.htm</A> S.u.S.E Linux 5.3 -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

so i found this on deja-news and it's a reply to someone who has the same problem as me, but I can't read it. Can anyone give me a rough translation: Thanks, Andy
checking for c++... c++ checking whether the C++ compiler (c++ ) works... no configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables.
Ich verwende Debian - Linux ! Vielleicht kann mir da jemand helfen.
hab auf suse 6 updated und das gleiche problem. in der suse supportdatenbank wird eine loesung angeboten, vielleicht hilfts auch bei debian: <A HREF="http://suse.de/Support/sdb/kettner_gpp.html</A">http://suse.de/Support/sdb/kettner_gpp.html</A>
Da wird das Problem leider darauf bezogen, dass die datei /usr/bin/g++ fehlt, das ist bei mir allerdings nicht der Fall, die Datei ist vorhanden !!!!! -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
