[opensuse] My Thunderbird is misbehaving since the last security update.
Hi, My Thunderbird is misbehaving since the last security update. For instance, on this message (Spanish, but the text is irrelevant): <https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-es/2019-07/msg00038.html> It displays only the part that was signed with GPG, ie, the previous message. The new text that forms the post I was sent, is missing. I can see it with "View Message Source", or with Alpine. But not Thunderbird. I have received the same post on two mail accounts, and both show the same behaviour. I have noticed other erratic behaviour. When I reply to some posts, using reply to list or reply to all, parts are missing: the line that should say that somebody said this on this day and hour is missing. And the previous quote gets a single ">" instead of two. I can try to identify the post But if I highlight the entire received post and then hit reply to list, the text is correct (except that the signature is not removed). It happens on this post - also on the Spanish mail list, dunno if related: <https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-es/2019-07/msg00028.html> When I hit "reply to list" on that post, I the text that I wrote with single quote char (>), when it should get two. And the part he posted also gets single quote char (>). The salutation line is missing. Same if I use "reply to all" or "reply". -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

I'll verify with other machines and if confirm, I'll raise a bug here. Upstream wants recent version, and Leap doesn't use it. - -- Cheers Carlos E. R. Confirmed. This laptop has the same problem, and configurations are not cloned. 60.7.2 -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.0 (Legolas))

60.7.2
Carlos, I don't know if this is related, but I've seen strange things with 60.7.2 as well concerning how the "source" of the message is encoded. For instance, some messages look fine in the viewer, but when you "view source" all that is contained in the source is a uuencoded block (which contains the message). I haven't seen it on the opensuse list, but have on the ACCU list, e.g. Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Errors-To: accu-general-bounces@accu.org X-CM-Analysis: v=2.3 cv=D8g51cZj c=1 sm=1 tr=0 cx=a_idp_d <snip> X-CM-Envelope: MS4wfN0BDr4q706mQ6lzHxQSGt2v3ldoGNPBLsdizLotOTMJ698Jr9xqsalPwmXZ15I90F/0jSZphiHlqfW0ij <snip> IFByZXZpb3VzbHksIEkgaGF2ZSBwcmVzZW50ZWQgbXkgcHJvamVjdCB0byB5b3UuIFRoZSBjdXJy ZW50IG5hbWUgb2YgbXkKcHJvamVjdCBpcyBQQ1lOTElUWC4KClBDWU5MSVRYIHBsYXRmb3JtIG9m ZmVycyBjb21wbGV0ZWx5IG5ldyBwcm9ncmFtbWluZyB0ZWNobm9sb2d5IHdoaWNoIGNhbiBiZQpu <snip> I don't know if this is sender related (this was a self-promo spammed to many lists so it may have been done to obscure) or if tbird decides to keep the original uuencoded block as the source based on the Content-Transfer-Encoding:, or what, but it was weird. Don't know if it is related, but I thought I would throw it out there. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

No, that's normal base64 encoding done by the sender client. <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base64> -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

I will, on the bugzilla. I'll create an mbox archive with it, and I'll test it with a new user or something. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

What security update? On what date?

I don't remember, but doesn't all your mail go thru your own server? Everything set correctly there? BTW, I am using same version of TB as you are and am not having any problems. And I am using KDE. <pruned> BC -- “The kidney, very special, the kidney has a very special place in the heart. To me, the previous day. Then I found it was older. To 60.7.2

No, these posts I see via imap on the ISP, and I tried on two different machines, and two different ISP mail providers.

Well, maybe the posts on the Spanish list had something special to trigger it. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)
