I think I'm confused again <g>. Just upgraded from 10.0 to 10.1 and am trying to get used to some of the changes that apparently occurred. The new update process has me baffled. The zen-updater icon tells me there are no updates, but when I go to yast2's online update, a ton of patches are listed, some with checkmarks, some without. Which one should I believe? don't worry too much, accept the update, only the necessary patches will be downloaded. and for the best, you should probably wait until dec 7 the release date for 10.2. This one have a much better zen than the 10.1. waiting two weeks is a good idea if you don't need your openSUSE in a hurry :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://dodin.org/mediawiki/index.php/GPS_Lowrance_GO -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had the same confusion. Actually both are in agreement. In 10.1 YOU shows all patches and the ones with blue or black checkmark are already installed and up-to-date. (stop your mouse pointer above the name of the package in the right pane and it should say that the installed and the available versions are the same) If all patches showing have just checkmarks, hitting "Accept" will just close the window without saying anything (which also confused me). When there are new patches in zen-updater, opening YOU will show the symbol of recycle (or "z", depending how you look at it :) ), which means that the package is flagged for update. You should see the pop-up note on the right-hand window saying that the installed and available versions are different. Then hitting "Accept" actually installs the patch. Which reminds me..... Yast Team: can we have different colors for Blue and Black which are largely are indistinguishable from one another? Maybe different Icons too. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

Which one should I believe? None until you have done the libzypp update via YAST Online Update.
I am almost certain you will find mention made of this in the archives by Marcus Meissner. I might be mistaken and confused between 10. and 10.1 but maybe it fixes the problem? My personal view would be to wait until 10.2 and then do a fresh install. That's not going to be possible for a LOT of people. Anyone with late model ATI video cards can't go to to 10.2 because of the later version of Xorg, which the ATI drivers do not yet support. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
