Hello everyone: Recently I did a complete and clean install of SuSE 9.3 / 64-bit. Everything worked including the CD player (KsCD). I'd simply insert a music CD and then the CD frontplate would appear and the music would play. I then used YOU (YaST Online Update) to update the files. Now, there's no sound from the CD. The frontplate appears, the counter shows the time used, track number etc., the controls work (stop, eject), but no sound. Now, I can hear streaming audio over the internet, it is just the CD player not working. When I went to YAST and did a search for 'sound', both the ALSA and ALSA-32 bit entries showed up in RED. I also found a number of entries - also in RED - when I did a YAST search for KDE. As near as I can determine, there is an older version of these files available (on the DVD). Now, are these the files causing my problem and, if so, should I simply remove them and re-install the older version from the DVD? Or is there another file I should be looking at? I know this is a simple problem and it might be as simple as replacing the files marked in RED with older copies (if this is the correct answer). Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers, Mike
