I downloaded netscape 7 pr1 using the intaller provided, in an /opt/netscape7 directory. When I fire it up ,it prompts me to create a new user profile in order to start. If I proceed to create a new profile, say josef, I cannot select where my profile is to be stored in the "Choose Folder " option. The pull down menu "Look in" does not present me with any options and I cannot type into it as well. As a consequence I cannot start netscape 7.0. I am wondering whether anybody else had such problems or could help. Thanks in advance, Josef

Why would you want to run Netscape 7 RC1 instead of Mozilla 1.0 RC2? They have the same code base, but mozilla lacks the spyware, the AOL bloat, and built in advertising. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net

Nevertheless, I am not a fan of mozilla. I just downloaded netscape 7 and wish I could make that work. Thanks for your input Josef
I installed mine in the same folder as you did as root. All went ok and I added the user data without any problem. When I ran it as a user I was prompted for the same info, types it in and all is ok. I'm up and running. Josef wrote:

Fellow SuSEr, To use and compare mozilla 1.02 and this 7 pr1...... I too downed the installer, to /home/kemdi directory, not /opt/netscape then 1) Open up a term, issue this : uz netscape-i686-pc-linux-gnu-installer.tar.gz 2) cd to the newly formed dir of ./netscape-installer 3) issue command : sux -c 4) Run ./netscape-installer From here on, you'll get the needed option to change installer path to say /opt/netscape6, in my case, as I wanted it over netscape6, instead of ita default /usr/local/?. Your profile , if any should become available now. Tinker with what install you need. Go ahead and when it finishes, it'll launch navigator, I think. Shut it down. And Ctrl-D in the term to come back as normal user. Now try and type in netscape7. Did it work ? Any profile available ? Oh ! It's a replica of Mozilla1 , bar the shop and AOL bits. At least Ctrl-T work on it . Great !! Well, that's me done. -- Kemdi IN_SuSE_d Since 5.2 123792 of counter.li.org ICQ:112290572
