All,
I have written a quick review of openSUSE 11.0 RC1 which was released today. Please check it out and if you like it please digg it:

I'll be doing more later but just wanted to scram that one out for now.

The kernel in RC1 appears to be OK, Fred. Nothing got 'killed' (except that I have no sound but whether it's because of the kernel or not I don't know) - and even the very latest nVidia driver just released (and on the nVidia site) compiled and works OK.
Even KDE4 is starting to look respectable.....
Ok.......I have it coming in SLOW, of course as only Torrent for a DVD d'l.....sorry, but I'm not amused with that. :( Oh.....writing this in Ubuntu 8.04.......NOT fond of it, but at least it does work. ;)
Then perhaps you should be downloading the delta.iso to apply to the B3 DVD to bring it up to RC1- the delta is only ~730MB big. The URL for the delta is given in the Announce list by 'Zonker' and is:
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0-RC1/iso/delta/

Hiding the panel is the least of the troubles! :'( Not only do I not have any sound but the icons on the desktop keep disappearing whenever an upgrade is made (none of this happened in Beta3). All this with KDE4. I am about to install KDE3 to see if the same occurs. WHY don't you guys take this seven quote deep conversation about an unreleased package to the "factory" list where it belongs and the people maintaining/building the packages *will* see the comments, gripes, bitches and possible problems and can respond and/or correct deficiencies? -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Fred is simply trying to find out what your pain threshhold is, and is also trying to up the ante about the price of the Gift Card you are going to buy him to make him join the factory mail list. No more and no less. When you are just short of becoming a blubbering looney-tune then Fred will (probably) subscribe to the factory list. Yeah, it's a shame that some have to act like children on a pre-school playground. I'm just waiting for the "I know you are, but what am I?" taunts. C'mon people, grow up!
