Also, I should mention that I am using grub as a boot loader. I remember when I used lilo there needed to be an entry in lilo.conf for the ide-scsi emulation to work for the drive (hd?=ide-scsi). Does the same need to be done for grub? Here's my /etc/grub.conf: linux:/home/trey # cat /etc/grub.conf root (hd0,0) install --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 /grub/stage1 d (hd0) /grub/stage2 0x8000 (hd0,0)/grub/menu.lst quit Thanks again. -- Cheers, Trey --- There is an innocence in admiration; it is found in those to whom it has not yet occurred that they, too, might be admired some day. - Friedrich Nietzsche

Silly question, but where is the menu.lst file located? Did a 'whereis' but couldn't find it. linux:/etc # cdrecord --scanbus Cdrecord-Clone 2.01a19 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2003 Jörg Schilling Linux sg driver version: 3.1.25 Using libscg version 'schily-0.7' scsibus0: 0,0,0 0) 'BTC ' 'BCE1610IM ' '0.17' Removable CD-ROM 0,1,0 1) * 0,2,0 2) * 0,3,0 3) * 0,4,0 4) * 0,5,0 5) * 0,6,0 6) * 0,7,0 7) * scsibus1: 1,0,0 100) 'IOMEGA ' 'ZIP 250 ' '32.G' Removable Disk 1,1,0 101) * 1,2,0 102) * 1,3,0 103) * 1,4,0 104) * 1,5,0 105) * 1,6,0 106) * 1,7,0 107) * I have a BTC1610IM CD-RW installed (not removable though that's what it's saying) along with a Zip 250 USB attached. -- Cheers, Trey --- There is an innocence in admiration; it is found in those to whom it has not yet occurred that they, too, might be admired some day. - Friedrich Nietzsche

Then don't worry, the scsi emulation is activated, it has seen your writer as scsi. I think I told you, but just in case, I'll say again: have a look at the '/var/log/boot.msg' file, and search for things about CDs and SCSI, or any other error. Also, while trying to "burn" -- in simulation mode, unless you want more table savers ;-) --, look at the kernel log for possible errors. Finally, try also xcdroast. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
