I've recently upgraded from 9.0 to 9.3 and that had several issues leading to a complete re-install :-( Now, while trying to configure my wlan interface I am getting several errors :- (It worked fine in 9.0) 1) It seems to be identified in Yast as wlan-id....MAC Address... - previously it was wlan0 2) It doesn't accept a static ip address (or rather it complains the address is already in use although it isn't) 3) It doesn't automatically start up (/sbin/ifconfig only shows lo interface) Anybody seen anything similar? 1) It seems to be identified in Yast as wlan-id....MAC Address... - previously it was wlan0
Yeah, I don't care much for that either. You could probably go into /etc/sysconfig/network/ and rename ifcfg-wlan-id... MAC Address... to something else. Just be sure that whatever you rename it to starts out "ifcfg-". Of course it would be better to copy this file off to another name first so you can back out if you need to. Be aware that renaming this file might mess up hotplugging or profiles... but I'm not sure of that... haven't gotten around to looking into that yet.
2) It doesn't accept a static ip address (or rather it complains the address is already in use although it isn't)
By "it" you mean some application or utility used to configure the NIC, but which one?
3) It doesn't automatically start up (/sbin/ifconfig only shows lo interface)
What happens when you do "ifconfig -a"? Which port are you assigning the NIC to? Which wireless card do you have?
Anybody seen anything similar?
