Hi everyone. Could anyone explain, and maybe show one example, how I add a user.I need to do it for my network, and I know where to do it,but I don't understand how to write in the file. Hello, Yast is what you need. Login as root, run yast, then go to "system administration", and to "users" (don't blame me if it's not the same menu, i'm french and try to translate as well as I can). Thi will perform : * Add the user in the /etc/passwd file * Add a password in the /etc/shadow file * Create a directory /home/NEW_USER and copy configuration files this NEW_USER needs to start to use linux. Personally I prefer to have a console login, but I have users that I'd prefer to keep in a GUI. I looked in yast and didn't see that option. Can I have some users login to a GUI and others a console? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Make runlevel 3 your default run level so xdm/kdm is started. Users who prefer a console login can still change to the console with Ctrl-Alt-F1.
