You would have to get your isp to filter spam like mail out before fetchmail ever sees it. The only way to do what your suggesting is via procmail which is the filter. Think of fetchmail as the garbage man who picks up the garbage..he doesn't go through it before it gets to the processing plant :) Cheers! and give procmail a whirl. It works quite well. -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

In Kmail in KDE3 beta there's an interesting new function called POPfilters, where you can filter on just about everything, just like normal filters. One of the things you can decide to do in your filter rule is to not download the mail. This sounds just like what Landy wants. I haven't actually tried it, so I don't know how, or even if, it works, but it sounds very useful for someone sitting on a slow modem connection. Merry Christmas Anders

Do you have something like this in your .bashrc/.zshrc (whatever shell you use)? -- export MAIL=$HOME/Mail/Incoming -- The above will make sure that unless otherwise told..all your mail will end up in the file/directory that you choose. I have all my mail by default dump into a file called Incoming..you could use inbox if you wished. Procmail will follow it's rules, but if there is no rule then it goes into ~/Mail/Incoming. I have the same procmail entries as you discribe above and I've never lost a piece of mail. I would check to see if your Mail dirctory is specified in your . file. :) -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
