Right you are. However, I would say that it is not German either. To my eyes, it does not even look like it was German before being transmogriffied into something supposedly resembling English. To some extent, you are also right that a translator should be a native user of the target language. More importantly though, the translator should be fluent in the target language and (s)he should be used to communicating in that language. If those requirements are met, the nationality of the translator is less important. I'd better stop now, before this turns into a long rant. ;-) This is, after all, my field of work, and as such interests me a lot more than it would the rest of the list.
