Hello, My KDE login screen is showing every user that is listed in /etc/passwd. This includes ftp, mysql, oracle, etc...It should be showing just root, and my login. Any idea why this is happening? I think you can fix it by going to the KDE configuration program and then to Configure Login. I did something like that quite a while ago. You can, and you have to do it as root. But Yast has it's own ideas (which is pretty dopey in my opinion - KDE handles it's login, so why does Yast feel the need to interfere?). If you change it using kcontrol, Yast will change it back next time your run suseconfig. So, change it in yast: System Admin -> Change config file -> KDM_USERS -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

About a month, or so, ago, I installed Enlightenment using the install program for my user and root. I use the GUI login (friendly for my wife). After installing, both users would immediately pop back to the login screen after selecting user/passwd and "ANY" screen manager. In my home directory, I got rid of all config info regarding Enlightenment, and then my login worked. I did the same for root, but root still will not login from the GUI login; it just keeps popping back to the GUI login screen. I can't find anything in the logs. Log in at the text console, do a `init 2', then `startx' and have a look at ~/.X.err. You'll probably find some error message there.
