OK ... next question in my quest to compile a package (of course, knowing me, I've almost certainly chosen one that's not normal) :-) The instructions for ScribuS say to ensure that QT2 is in the /etc/ld.so.conf file ... I think I've figured that, just add the /usr/lib/qt2 line to the file. However ... changing (as it suggests) QTDIR to point to the same place (making sure QTDIR contains the path to QT2) sounds a bit dubious .... firstly I don't actually know how to do it but secondly I though KDE3 was based on QT3 and KDE2 on QT2 so won't I be screwing things up if I point the environmental variable to QT2? Or do I only need to do this for compiling and then it switches back? James C. You should be able to set QTDIR to point to QT2 _manually_ just in the shell that you are using to compile the package, then your global QTDIR setting can remain pointing to QT3. This exercise will give you some appreciation for the work that SuSE does in creating an entire distribution and making everything work!
