RE: [SLE] cardmgr [556]: config error, file config
cardmgr is the PCMCIA card manager. If you don't have a laptop or a PCMCIA reader, then you don't need to worry about it. "[556]" is probably just the PID of the process. If you don't have, need, or want PCMCIA support, then you can uninstall the pcmcia package using: rpm -e pcmcia If you do need it, then check out the man page of cardmgr and cardctl (the are both part of the pcmcia subsystem): man cardmgr man cardctl I think the SuSE manuals talk about PCMCIA too, but I don't have any near me to check right now. Hope that helps, If you have other questions, or a more specific question about cardmgr, let me know.

What is "cardmgr [556]: config error, file config"? I get this in the xconsole at startup. Thanks

Hi, I do need pcmcia - ad find that in 8.0 my net configration /intermittantly/ fails to recover from a suspend. If it was alway then I would understand. THe problem seems to lie in net-configuration not the card as the card powers up Ok. THe only clue I have so far is that ifup-eth-pcmcia-0 / ifup eth-pcmcia both return error messages complaining that the interface does not exist ( see /etc/sysconfig/network ). Console log gives me the following errors : May 30 09:22:21 mossdog ifup: No configuration found for sit-pcmcia sit0 May 30 09:22:07 mossdog cardmgr[466]: config error, file 'config.add_kernel' line 322: unknown device: 8139too Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can work around this? Cheers F
