[opensuse] Confused by K-9 on android
All, Very intentional top-post. In K-9 I created the below email as a response to a question on the factory list. (I only use K-9 for posting to mailing lists, so not that often.) In K-9's email listing, the below appears as one e-mail and all is good. But when I change to the google provided gmail app, the below shows up as 3 different emails. The first has about a third of the below edited in. Then the second has that third, plus a third more. And the third one is the below final email. I only hit send once and again, K-9 shows it as only one email. What is going on? Greg Greg Freemyer <greg.freemyer@gmail.com> wrote:

i packaged ufw and gufw (uncomplicated firewall and it gui), the compilation worked and the rpms work to
i do some requests for this two package on devel:openSUSE:Factory
I'm surprised at your choice of devel projects for a firewall package.
"Security" would have been my choice.
I'd consider revoking your sr and submitting to security.
from home:jluce2 2 day ago
request #86926 and #86927
i have no answer ??
2 days is not very long.
Seems like I've had it take a week to get a new package accepted into a devel project before.
is there something wrong ??
The core devs are busy with getting 12.1 ready, so anything related to openSUSE:factory will have priority over their devel projects.
Don't be surprised if after waiting days, they reject your request because you chose a poor devel project for your packages.

I'm guessing k-9 saves your email as a draft as you type. There are multiple complaints on the web about k-9's handling of email drafts Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

K-9 is akin to a normal Mail application, like KDE or Thunderbird with threading turned off. It works just like those do, where each mail is shown as a separate entity. Google's GMAIL app is custom designed for GMAIL's eccentricity. It insists on showing you your email in "conversations" (Threaded view). This is the way Gmail's web interface has always worked. The web mail only gained the ability to turn off conversation view about this time last year, but it does not yet apply to the Android version. See this story: http://blogs.computerworld.com/17061/google_gmail_conversation_view So each program is working as it was intended. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Definitely not! Anders' comment that K-9 is permanently saving drafts in my mailbox sounds right. The first "draft" and the final sent email have similar headers. The obvious difference is the one that was "Sent" has Return-Path: <greg.freemyer@gmail.com> Received: from [192.168.1.52] (c-98-219-52-68.hsd1.ga.comcast.net. [98.219.52.68]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id x65sm19928141yhg.18.2011.10.08.19.38.13 (version=SSLv3 cipher=OTHER); Sat, 08 Oct 2011 19:38:14 -0700 (PDT) which the apparent draft does not have anything like that at all. That's logical if it was never actually sent. (Note that those drafts appear to be sent when I casually look via the gmail interface. And that has nothing to do with conversation mode.) The proper thing for K-9 to do is put those drafts in my drafts folder (ie label), then delete them when the next draft is saved or when the email is sent. K-9 did NOT delete the drafts in this case and they are not in my drafts folder. I've seen it fail to deleted drafts before as well, and I've probably only sent 10 or so emails with K-9, so that's a pretty high failure rate. Patrick, At the top level of K-9 I don't have it either, but once I open a specific mailbox I do. Not that it was wrong, but at least I could verify it was correct. Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, I don't use it that much. I find email on a 4 inch screen a chore that only vindicates itself in a near-emergency or great urgency. I have enough problem with my G-Sons texting :^) -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

K-9 I'm not a big fan of either. Thus my only having sent a dozen or so messages with it in the last few weeks. But, my Android has a slide out keyboard which makes it tolerable for short emails. I can't handle the touch screen typing for long. Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I use voice --> text with corrections. My keyboard expands if I turn the phone to landscape but it's still a chore :^) -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have a BlackBerry for work and I find it's keyboard is worse than the Android virtual keyboard. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I can't stand the default virtual keyboard in Android. I use the hacker's keyboard which is much better. Charles -- The nice thing about Windows is - It does not just crash, it displays a dialog box and lets you press 'OK' first. (Arno Schaefer's .sig)

I find K9 OK on a tablet, but it desperately needs threading support. Charles -- "The move was on to 'Free the Lizard'" -- Jim Hamerly and Tom Paquin (Open Sources, 1999 O'Reilly and Associates)

This is strange then, I can't replicate your problem. All my drafts are saved correctly in the draft folder (and deleted when sent) and I do not see any dups in gmail before my fetchmail kick in.
