[opensuse] Anyone have an ExpressCard Ethernet adapter? IOC-6800?
I really need a second ethernet port in my laptop for diagnostic purposes [so I can connect to the monitor port of a switch and still be on the network]. My laptop has an ExpressPort/54. The only NIC I've been able to find is the Cables Unlimited IOC-6800. But I can find *NO* detailed information on this card [chipset, etc...] Anyone have an alternative card or have used an IOC-6800? 2.6.34-12-desktop HP DV-3085DX -- Adam Tauno Williams <awilliam@whitemice.org> LPIC-1, Novell CLA <http://www.whitemiceconsulting.com> OpenGroupware, Cyrus IMAPd, Postfix, OpenLDAP, Samba -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It works! Initially I put it in the machine and ... nothing ... happened; but fortunately Bing had cached to old openSUSE wiki page about fixing up ExpressCard hot plugging. <http://cc.bingj.com/cache.aspx?q=opensuse +expresscard&d=4625542450579688&mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&w=ffc683e4,290dff69> A simple "modprobe pciehp pciehp_force=1" and BAM! the interface was available in Network Manager <http://projects.gnome.org/NetworkManager/> and Wireshark <http://www.wireshark.org/>.
