My 9.1 SuSE wants to update (via "letter icon") on the orange update thingie in what I think they call the Kicker a number of things which I either don't need, or they work fine and I won't fool with. Is there any way to clear this, so that I might see something that maybe I would need? --doug

The updates are almost invariably bug and security fixes. You might be surprised by what packages you do actually make use of even if they don't seem usefu to you. You could uninstall the packages you don't want or need - but the system may not let you if something depends on them. As for the things which work fine - they may well do but could still have bugs or security holes which could trip you up in the future - update them and be done with it, that's what the updates are for. --doug Right-clicking on an item in the list will allow you a wide variety of choices regarding updates. Personally, I shy from them. They have broken an installation numerous times --both 9 Pro & 9.1 Personal. -- ...CH SuSE 9 Works Linux user# 313696 Linux box# 199365
