[opensuse] Firefox 7.0 on 11.4 - how to get mouseover URL back in status bar??
Guys, Wolfgang In FF 7.0 on 11.4, when I hover over a link, the URL displays in the bottom of the browser window instead of in the normal bottom status bar. This is horrible. The contrast of the URL in the bottom left corner of the active window is barely noticeable. I need to figure out how to get this to display back in the bottom status bar where I can see it. Here is a screenshot of the 7.0 display in the bottom of the window [10k]: http://nirvana/dl/suse/bugs/114/firefox/address-not-in-status-bar.jpg It used to display where the 'X' in the status bar is now. How do I fix this? What's the trick? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Maybe status-4-evar extension. I use it. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg. Ha, probably because the URL resolves to nirvana.com - the website of the band Nirvana instead of David's webserver :-) Based on previous posts from David, I guessed on the correct URL... http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/suse/bugs/114/firefox/address-not-in-status-ba... and this is what the URL should have been (ie it resolves to the image). FWIW, I agree 100% What a waste of some developer's time! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hah! Looking at FF 7.0.1 in Arch, the URL's for links you mouse-over ARE shown in the bottom status bar and NOT in the main window. When I click 'customize' on the bottom toolbar in Arch, the field is shown as 'status text' and it provides the old behavior of showing the URL in the toolbar and not in the bottom left corner of the viewer window. Duh! There is an extension that does this for you. It's called Status-4-Evar. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/?src=search Just install it and you get the status-text back in the bar where it is supposed to be. Sometimes moving things just for the "gee-whiz I can put it here" reason really screws things up. -- David C.
