'info' is an abomination.
Why so? OK, it's very different from man, but besides that I really don't see a reason to call it an abomination.

It is far from intuitive... I haven't found very many people that like it and every time I give it a whirl, I get the same opinion.
info files are best read using emacs in my opinion (if you have a year to spare, I heartily recommend learning to use emacs:-) If you do not like the info program now, you should have seen it before they broke down and added cursor key support (now THAT was painful -- and is probably why so many old-timers dislike info so much.)

Or type "info:/<your program> in the url bar of konqueror. No learning curve involved anymore. If "info:/" is too long use "##<your program>" e.g.: info:/groff -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

The generated HTML shows arrows on the screen for moving in various directions through the text. Is there a way to do that using just the keyboard? I really dislike having to shift back and forth between keyboard and mouse, and the mouse doesn't work so well for moving the text up and down the screen (it's possible, I know. using the scrollbar). afaik you there are no keys available. However, going back you can do with <alt><arrow left> going forward with <alt><arrow right>. up and down with the respective arrows and if you use <shift> at the same time konqueror will scroll automatically for you. Pressing the shift arrow combination once more increases the scroll speed. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

Now this is a real nice bit of information. Almost makes looking at info files painless ;) Thanks Richard. -- SuSE Linux 8.2 (i586) --- 2.4.20-4GB-athlon --- Fri 01/02/04 10:05 10:05am up 11 days 12:39, 3 users, load average: 0.03, 0.19, 0.22
