That rpm file is for a different kernel. You will have to download the source code and recompile for your current kernel.
Oh right! So I searched the site more and I remember how I got the original rpm in the first place. In the same site are src.rpms: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/drivers:/webcam/SUSE_Linux_10.1/sr... So I downloaded the src rpm and rebuilt it with rpmbuild --rebuild uvcvideo.....src.rpm and I now have the latest driver in rpm format. The new driver works a bit better than previous, but I still do not have color or enough brightness. But it's progress. Thanks for your reply. The project should just add the SUSE Linux 10.1 + Updates build distribution, then you could use the drivers build for this one to match your current kernel. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ciao, Marcus
Thanks but I'm not sure I understand. I kept digging and found a link on the Suse wiki to this page http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/Web_Cameras which gives instructions on how to add the repo to Yast. But I could not get it to work in 10.1 - no matter what I did. And I am quite familiar with the process. Are the instructions on that page related to what you are saying? The webcam is in my wife's laptop and she has become an even more diehard linux user than I. She would be thrilled if she can actually use the webcam online. Thanks for your input. Thanks for all the input and efforts. I am npt sure I understood right. But what I did was to add http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/suse/update/10.1/ as an installation source in yast. I have access to the updates, but no uvc drivers. What next? Thanks. Gustav

computer -> more applications -> utilities ?? Doesn't exist on my 10.2 installation. FWIW the new 0.5.2 goes well only if you remove the dot files from any previous install. Also, the 3d plugin doesn't seem to be available. Still total crash on logout. Will this be fixed in 0.6.0? nvidia 10.2 with all possible xorg and compiz installed. Hi Gfs, I too would hope that there will be a beryl-manager style tray-icon in future. As a user i will continue to ask for it in the project. There is a early prototype "compiz-fusion-icon": http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=3136 But i hear it is still very buggy, and is in no way even slightly official, just a user-contributed effort. Still it might be of use to you. i would love to hear from cyberorg, what the current state of play is on this. The combination of opensuse & CF is the winner for me, though i've dabbled around in a few other distros. I'm a newbie at linux, and find opensuse really holds my hand through most aspects of configuration and use. Thanks for a great distro, and keep up the good work. :) Best wishes, David -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thank you for that CyberOrg. Maybe a tray icon will ultimately prove unnecessary, but it makes a nice transition from Beryl. Cheers, David -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
