[opensuse] Oversized shmall & shmmax on SLES11 server
Dear all, I noticed these settings on a Xen host. These seem a little high. kernel.shmmni = 4096 kernel.shmall = 1152921504606846720 kernel.shmmax = 18446744073709551615 Its a 64bit box, Linux a200 2.6.16.60-0.23-xen #1 SMP Thu May 15 06:38:31 UTC 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux # free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 6409 6326 82 0 296 5391 -/+ buffers/cache: 638 5770 Swap: 33055 66 32989 Some of the Xen clients running on this server also have similar settings and the others have values that I would have had expected: #/sbin/sysctl kernel.shmall kernel.shmall = 268435200 Should the shmall and shmmax be this large?
