This is VERY, VERY BIG news!! http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/04/24/2226241&mode=thread&tid=106 I think the biggest part of this story is the line: "Word has it that Adobe may be pursuing unix versions of it's toolset as DreamWorks isn't the only shop switching." -- Fred A. Really? Can't see it changing my life much. It may help SGI sell a few more of their overpriced Intel boxes though.

Fact has it that Adobe dropped their Framemaker support at the beta stage, and tell anyone who wants a Photoshop port to use Gimp instead. This is just about a possible opening in a niche market (not that I'm saying that's a bad thing of course). Nothing to get excited about. -- 3:46pm up 3 days, 7:25, 1 user, load average: 0.02, 0.03, 0.00

Part of the story reads: HP's tech staff, which has experience with the company's own seven generations of graphics solutions, also helped DreamWorks get 3D acceleration in Linux from an unimpressive three frames per second rendering speed up to a speedy 46 frames per second, Wood says. HP and DreamWorks also worked together to create accelerated 3D on two Linux screens at the same time, he adds. Does this mean there is hope for us poor soles trying to get just one of our poor graphics card to use 3D as it should:) John

The G is Geffen, as in David Geffen. Geffen Records among other things. From what I understand, Microshaft threw some money at them at one point way-back-when, but are not involved with them now. Hm, you're right. I've always thought it was Gates. I wonder where I got that idea. Oh well, thanks for setting me straight. Anders
Actually there is such a company as "Microshaft", please don't inscribe them with MS$'s reputation! scsijon At 08:08 PM 4/25/02 +0200, Joe Sullivan wrote:
