Leap 15.0 repo question
Are the isos at /pub/opensuse/distribution/leap/15.0/iso/ the original released isos or do they contain all the updates since birth? Thanks Mark

They are the originals. The ISOs are never updated. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.6°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland.

There was a single exception, one bad installation bug. I don't remember what version it was. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Can I somehow just rsync from either https://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/ or https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/ to have a local copy of the latest. Then burn a DVD from that to use to update an old un-updated 15.0 system that has no network connection?

Essentially yes, although download.o.o does not support rsync, you'll have to use rsync.o.o instead. Not sure if I still keep 15.0 on the server, it really ought to be gone. Maybe ftp.gwdg.de has also already moved 15.0 to discontinued/.

to get "the latest", you need the update/ directory too. I don't know if you can then burn that to a DVD, but copying to a USB stick ought to work. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (11.0°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland.

Both of the URLs above seem to be populated as one would expect.

Neither of those URLs have an "update" directory. I assume all the "updates" have been moved into the oss and non-oss dirs? Regards Mark

Sorry, "o.o" is shorthand for "opensuse.org".

update/ is a top-level directory, just as distribution/. http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/update/leap/15.0/repo/oss -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.2°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland.

404 Not Found If you think this is a mistake, see ftp.gwdg.de for contact information. but there is http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/update/leap/15.0/ Should I assume, like the isos, that all the updates will be in http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/update/leap/15.0/ and NOT in http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/ Thanks Mark

but there is http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/update/leap/15.0/
Okay, I was too quick with the URL :-)

The DVD only contains a subset of the repository: http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/ Both the DVD and the repo are frozen once published. Updates will be in: http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/update/leap/15.0/ -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.3°C)

15.0 is still available on rsync.o.o, so if you hurry up :-) -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.4°C)

Mark
OK. I am doing this rsync -avz rsync://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/leap/15.0/repo/oss ./ It did not work on the opensuse.org URL. Thanks Mark

Yeah, rsync.o.o is really intended for people who want to run a private mirror, and it is organised into a number of modules. For your case, I think "opensuse-full" and "opensuse-update" would be the right ones, but using ftp.gwdg.de is just as good and probably a lot faster. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.2°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes
