I have attempted to install SuSE 7.1 on my Dell Latitude 800. Although the PCMCIA CardBus (Texas Instruments PCI-4451) is supported by Linux and the pcmcia card managers services, the SuSE installation locks and I am forced to hard boot the laptop. The problem occurs after the hardware scan during the initialization of the cardmgr service. I have included the final messages from console 4. Any help/insight would be sincerely appreciated. -Matthew Porter ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- Intel PCIC probe: TI 4451 rev 00 PCI-to-CardBus at slot 02:0f, mem 0x68000000 host opts[0]: [ring] [pci + serial irq] [pci irq 11] [lat 32/32] [bus 32/34] host opts[0]: [ring] [pci + serial irq] [pci irq 11] [lat 32/32] [bus 35/37] ISA irqs (scanned) = 3, 7, 9, 10 PCI status changes cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0xcff: excluding 0xcf8-0xcff cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x8ff:

there was a message from lenz grimmer a few days back how to disble hardware detection (all or some of it). You can also try to enter "manual" at the boot prompt and try the manual approach.
