[opensuse] virtual box question [rejected, attempt 2]
</suppressed rant regarding list blocking> I'm far from an expert, but I've been playing with virtual box today. you can setup various machines, each has a small profile that says how much RAM it can have, how the devices can be configured (e.g. you can point ISO files to be mounted as CD devices) and a path to a 'disk' file. it's basically a file that can either be set to grow, or a statically set file (the growing file seems to have an upper limit that it won't go past, the static file takes and holds the disk space). I'd say you don't -have- to have a seperate partition for the virtual disk files, but it made sense to me to do it. that's probably much more info than you really wanted. short answer - you're going to need to set aside largish portions of disk space (the default is 8 gig for an opensuse install). if you want to make sure you don't fill up other sections (and to me that's often a very important thing), then yes, a seperate partition (or hopefully a logical volume) makes a bit of sense. as far as overall performance, I don't think it'd matter a whole lot. -- Even the Magic 8 ball has an opinion on email clients: Outlook not so good. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
