No, AFAICS, it isn't. That report talks about the problem of destroying data on the SSD. My point was that the command "secure erase" makes the SSD firmware think the whole disk is unused and it can use every sector for its internal wear leveling algorithm. For that use case, I don't care if secure erase really erases all data or not. The only important result is that the disk is completely usable. A lot of SSDs have secure erase disabled. (This is called "locked" by hdparm.) In that post you replied to were the actual steps needed to unlock an SSD to be able to issue the command.
