Hi, anybody here aware of this? I am using some DLink DGE-500T Gigabit NICs based on the ns chip. With Suse Linux 9.3 a fatal problem surfaces. Installing Suse 9.3 from scratch invokes the network configuration via Yast and it's scripts. This fails miserably with freezing the system. Doing all config work by hand makes the system work as usual. However, changing any sysconfig parameter via Yast (literally anything that touches the network stuff) that makes Yast start the scripts related to networking freezes the system. Only pulling the plug helps... I did some further checks and figured, that the problem already existed in Suse Linux 9.2 Professional. It's nonexistent in Suse Linux 9.1. I found no problems in using other distributions like Mandrake, Fedora or Knoppix. So I believe there is a communications breakdown between Yast and the driver..? Any hints? best regs td As a side note: Unfortunately, Suse Support is quite ignorant and behaves like a black hole. I filed two requests via their website [20050409430000676] and [20050411990000065]. One they can't find anymore. The other was forward to their office in England (the guy on the phone in Nuremberg told me because I filed it in English..! Which is what they request on their website as a favor to their international staff (!?)). The UK office has closed the ticket without further investigation... (Probably because it came from Germany!?).
