RE: [SLE] Adding users at login
That sounds like the "security hole from hell" to me.. Are you sure you want to do that?
your right that is a big one !
what i need to try and do is create a script that will let people create an account when they telnet to the box.
so when they get the login prompt from telnet.
create a new user with telnet, ( for this idea you should be shot,) if you insist on using a login prompt at least use SSH, to do this you would have to have an account which would allow some script with root privileges. this is a crazzzzyyy Idea.
they could enter something like newuser and it would login automatically and then take them through an account creating process.
If I were you and you absolutely had to do this, may I suggest a web page, over a secure connection. Use a perl script that is meticulous about purging user entries. so use drop down menus for everything else, Actually you may even just have the script write the info to a flat file, then have an admin add the info at a later date, or have some service ad the info. This I have done but it was on a local intranet. and it was to allow user pages, and groupware type stuff on the webserver.
can anyone help me on this , as scripts were never my strong point.
or point me to a site were i can have a look at an example

Is it just me or did tftp break with 6.4 again? I had the same problems (access violations) when I first installed 6.3... once they had an update for the nkit package, it was fixed. Now I've installed 6.4 and I'm getting this again!!! - Herman -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
