[opensuse] 12.1 - konversation - no communication with IRC server after initial connection
Hi all, I lately upgraded from 11.4 to 12.1. The upgrad was a reinstall but I kept the homedirs (NFS share). Now I can't chat on freenode, opensuse and flightgear IRC servers anymore. The connection is established, I see the typical disclaimers, etc. etc. etc. and then, when I type e.g. /join #opensuse, nothing happens. After a while, konversation shows "no answer from server since ... seconds". There is no error message or any hint. Now, interesting enough, connection to Shadowfire work without problems. Anybody any ideas? -S -- (o_ Stefan Gofferje | SCLT, MCP, CCSA //\ Reg'd Linux User #247167 | VCP #2263 V_/_ Heckler & Koch - the original point and click interface 18:52pm up 3 days 5:13, 4 users, load average: 0.29, 0.65, 1.03 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Stefan, try another irc freeenode channel like #opensuse-project, #opensuse-xxxxx. or #suse AFAIR, #opensuse channel is with invitation. So you will not get access to #opensuse channel with no invitation. As I wrote, I can't chat *anymore* on freenode, opensuse and flightgear IRC servers. /join #opensuse was just a random example. The servers are not accepting any command after the welcome banner. And normally if you try to join an invitation-only channel, you get an error message.
