I ask with respect to both the downloadable and the sold forms of SUSE 10: http://www.novell.com/products/linuxpackages/professional/diff_cd_dvd.html lists many apps which are not present on the (boxed and downloadable?) CDs, but which are only present on the double-layer DVD which comes in the box. Will the downloadable form of SUSE 10 include ALL the packages in the ISOs? Including the ones listed in the page linked to above? IOW, excluding proprietary software which cannot be freely redistributed, SUSE 10 Download will contain ALL packages that are available for SUSE, right? No more differences between the boxed and downloadable versions except for the proprietary packages, right? -- Shriramana Sharma http://samvit.org

sorry, but i really wonder how often and in how many variants you wanna ask these questions. At least, whether noone, i repeat: NOONE, know the answer exactly. And if you maybe decide to download the whole SUSE 10.0, where is your problem then to download some additional packages maybe via apt or such thing which are not included in the download-version of SUSE 10.0? And please, would you, please please, ask another question next time? Maybe which color is painted at the retailbox or such thing, but NOT again a question about differences between SuSE and SUSE and suse and SuSe, FTP, rsync, indian-retail, US-retail and so on. Please. I'll pray for it. Thanks. regards, Jens

I agree with your posting. Just this: there are people who do not have the posibilaty to download all to the computer they want to install it on. So it would be interesting for those to have the possability to have all of the FTP on ISO's. If there comes a distribution of witch you only need one CD to have a working system, it would also be nice to have all of the dustro on CD's (exept perhaps the sources) If there is a 4 or 5CD download, why not an 7 or 9 CD download? If it is the amount of CD's, then one should be enough. houghi -- HOW YOU CAN TELL THAT IT'S GOING TO BE A ROTTEN DAY: #32: You call your answering service and they've never heard of you.

Since years the same questions. Read the SuSE/Novell Websites. It's the same difference as every year! Jens Nixdorf wrote:

:-) Many thanks Ciao Marco.
Maybe I'm blind but I haven't found a DVD size iso on any of the servers -only the 4 CD iso's. Is there a DVD download which could just be burned on a DVD-RW each time ?

You're not blind. CD iso's only ;-) On Monday 15 August 2005 23:53, Winston Graeme wrote:

Check the recent thread on jigdo. The possibilities of creating various versions based on the same source files (all aps CD distro, all apps DVD distro, basic user single CD distro etc)... I'm really excited about the jigdo project, despite not being able to write a single line of code to help it... -- Shriramana Sharma http://samvit.org (o- Penguin #395953 //\ running on ancient Indian wisdom V_/_ and modern computing efficiency

If someone had told me that before, I would have stopped asking this question. I didn't get any response on the previous thread, and how am I going to catch any attention without starting a new thread? I mean no offence to anyone, but am a sort of newbie here so please have some mercy on me. -- Shriramana Sharma http://samvit.org

The problem is that no one knows this for sure yet. The space on medias is limited, apps might get removed because they are not ready yet or any license problem does appear. But in general you are right, the difference should be reduced to the proprietary packages, yes. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SuSE AG, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de
