I was all set to send this question about a month ago, then mysteriously the problem disappeared. Problem is: When trying to print from kwrite/advanced editor or from kate nothing happens at the printer end. kWord, AbiWord and kEdit all print fine, but with kate and advanced editor/kwrite CPU usage peaks out with the process "gs -dBATCH -dSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE -r300x300 -sDEVICE=cdj550 -dBitsPerPixel=32 -sOutputfile= | cat >&3 - " (all one line shown in kpm) I started w/ SuSE 7.2 pro and have upgraded as they became available on the SuSE mirrors. I'm using kde2.2.2, kernel 2.4.16-21 from SuSE cups (version not known) the problem was there with xFree86 4.03 and is still there with 4.10 I'm at a loss as I know it has worked before. I'm just not sure what could have changed Another mystery, while troubleshooting this problem I tried printing from gedit but it refuses saying that it can't find font "Courier", unable to print w/out it. The problem is clear but why can't it find the font. I've used yast to perform all of my upgrades and this seems like something that just shouldn't happen. thanks for any help dave
