[opensuse] kwin steals alt-f4 and alt-tab from rdesktop
Hi, I'm very frustrated by $subject: when using rdesktop or tsclient kwin steal away from me alt-tab and alt-f4, thus I can't use the key in the remote session. Is there any way to tell kwin not to misbehave so badly? Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It is no misbehaviour, they are normal global shortcuts. You can change KWin's shortcuts to something else in the global shortcuts systemsettings module, or you can block all global shortcuts for a specific window - when the window is active, Alt+F3->Advanced->Special window settings->Workarounds, enable Block global shortcuts, set to Force and set the value to checked. -- Lubos Lunak openSUSE Boosters team, KDE developer l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

thanks, but kwin doesn't seem to keep the setting and overall it has no effect. The version of kde I'm using is 4.1.3 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Global KDE shortcuts are irrelevant inside an rdesktop session unless it is to another KDE 4.x system. And even in that case it is the remote system that should receive the shortcut. This very issue had been raised very long ago: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162723 Perhaps someone should help the KRDC developer turn off global KDE shortcuts programmatically from KRDC.
