Ark prompt for RAR password?
Hi, I have a *.RAR archive with a password. In Win the prompt to enter the password is shown when extracting with WinRAR, but with Ark or Archive Manager in Linux the prompt does not appear and Ark or Archive Manager just closes after some time. How can I get ARK to prompt for the password in Linux (SUSE Boxed purchased Version 10.0)? :-) Al

I believe Ark and Archive manager need the CLI program "unrar" to handle that format. Check to see if it's installed on your system. If not, install it. Once installed, you can just open a shell as user and "unrar --help" to remind yourself of the various command line parameters. I've forgotten the specific -flag for password, but when you invoke it, it'll prompt you for a password before extracting a password protected .rar file. hth & regards, Carl

Hi Carl, Thanx. It was installed and it asks the password with 'unrar e <filename>' in the CLI. No GUI available for (un)rar on Linux it seems. :-) Al
