Hi all, I have a server with two nics with IP 10.1.1.60 and 10.9.1.84. There is a differente hostname for each IP, let's say localhost1.localdomain (10.1.1.60) and localhost2.localdomain (10.9.1.84). I would like to know if is possible to have two different httpd server one serving the URL http://localhost1.localdomain and the other one serving the URL http://localhost2.localdomain both using port 80. Thanks. Maurizio P.S. For sure this can be set if this two server use different port (i.e. 80 and 81) but I would like to know if I can use 10.1.1.60:80 and 10.9.1.84:80 at the same time. M.

You mean using the same apache? You can do IP based virtual hosts, check the documentation in the apache site. But, if you want i.e. roxen in localhost1 and apache in localhost2 or even different versions of apache or 2 servers compiled in different ways, well, you must load them serving in different ports, but maybe you can use a iptables rule to redirect the port 80 traffic for the localhost2 ip to the 8080 port. Hi from a new user, I'm still working on discovering the differences between DISPLAYMANAGER and DEFAULT_WM (Window Manager), in general, and in how these variables in /etc/rc.config control the startup experience. The configuration I seek provides startup sequence as follows: 1. Boot to text console for login. This is successful as long as I set runlevel 3 in /etc/inittab 2. Login as user, not superuser or root. No problem. 3. Get from the text console to a KDE Desktop. This is where I have a trouble. If I login as root, or 'su' from user login, running 'startx' gets me to KDE and exiting therefrom returns me to the text console; which is exactly what I want to do from user login; however, when user login starts 'startx', I end up in fvwm desktop. What can I fix to change from fvwm to kde? I thought it would have to be something in or under ~/ but 'grep -ilrs fvwm *' yields nothing from there, other than in .xinitrc which I had relocated to ~/removed/ in case it was the cause ;-} Thanks, -- Maynard

As a quick fix, as a user, type "startx kde". I'm using 7.2, so I can't guess where the default windowmanager is set for you. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
