Re: [SuSE Linux] SO 5 versus applix and soon wp8
It seems that SO 5 has some issues regarding installation and I did order it on cd.
Can someone using StarOffice 5 post some basic comments about its function with regard to importing office 97 blech files especially excel blech and word blech? I dont care so much about powerpoint blech but it would be nice to know that it does >that. I have a word97 documents which is 3mb in size that applix >4.4.1 chokes on. Want to do a little experiment? If you have SO 5 >and want to try importing this file, I will shove it to my anon ftp >server at work and you can have at it. I personnally have not had any problems installing SO5. I'm running 5.2 and 2.0.34 kernel. format, try reading the apeng.doc for import. I've had very good results from SO5 so far, it seems quite faster than SO4. I've imported Word and Excell files with graphics imbedded and it looks the same on both formats. As far as I know, you can't import powerpoint files. The only problems I've seen is with people complaining about the install. If you get the libs installed and call them from the command that calls SO5, then you shouldn't have any problems running it. I don't. I'd be willing to test that experiment for ya if ya want. I don't have a file of that size in word format. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at <A HREF="http://www.hotmail.com"><A HREF="http://www.hotmail.com</A">http://www.hotmail.com</A</A>> - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
