Tom, I completely disagree, here. My big gripe with all the linux manuals, books, etc. is that everything is presented in terms of DOS and ms-windows. I have never used dos or ms-windows.
You are a minority then Connie - no offense ... and even better, you haven't been "conatminated" :)
I haven't a clue what is being made so much clearer by these references. Linux should stand alone as the great operating system it is.
Agree - but in terms of broader acceptance, please be aware that all the unwashed masses know is "Windows 95" thanks to the excellent marketing machine at Microsoft. Ask a non-computer person what computers run now and all they know is "Windows".
The instructions would be clearer and more concise if the comparisons were left out, or put in a separate section (linux for former ms users).
