Just had a crash on my system after trying to play a dvd. My home partition refuses to mount and reiserfsck reports an unrecoverable error, possibly bad block. Fortunately, I managed to backup my friend's files on CD today just before the crash. Unfortunately, my files have not been backed-up. Any ideas on 1) how I could possibly repair my drive. 2) retrieve some of my data. Is there a way using something like ddrescue? Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance. Eddie

Thanks Jerry I have done that already. Run without options, it said that I need to do --rebuild-tree. I tried that and it failed and reported an input/output error and suggested that this is a physical problem ect. I will eventually try to format the partition and then see what happens. Before that I would like to retrieve as much data as I can. Since the error reported one corrupt block I was hoping that there would be some way of reading other undamaged areas. Eddie
