As is usually the case: Which version of openSUSE? Which desktop? Where did you get the package from? What package type is it? (rpm, tar, etc.) Without more info no one can help you because crystal balls disappeared with the dark ages. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

you say you are new, so welcome.. with openSUSE it is generally not necessary to go to the website of the maker...instead generally we install from openSUSE repositories (aka: "repos"...that way we are sure of the security of the packages we install (and, generally the kinds of problems you encountered are not seen).. so, in the main SUSE menu find YaST (you didn't declare which desktop you are using, and since there are several i can't give specific directions, but) click the main menu and type in the search box "yast"...give it a second, and went the system finds it and presents the icon, click it.. a new window will open, asking for your root (aka: Super User, or System Administrator) password...give it.. a new window will open, YaST Control Center...on the left highlight "Software" (it probably already is highlighted) then on the right single click on "Software Management" a new window will open, and the Software Management will do lots of stuff (for example: it will contact a nearby mirror of the repos, and fetch the list of whats there) getting ready--so, be a little patient, depending on net traffic and the speed of your connection/etc it may take from just a few second to a "little while" (sometimes, but seldom, never)... when ready it will give you a "Search" block (and lots of other controls and stuff you don't need to look at just now (but, someday).. type in "wine" and click "Search" the right side of the window will fill in (with every package with the word "wine" in it) single left click the box to the left of "wine An MS Windows Emulator" and then click the "Accept" button in the lower right ... a new window will open listing the "Automatic Changes" becuase you clicked on just one package, and YaST 'knows' it takes several different bits to make wine work--generally YaST knows best, so click "Continue" to accept its selected _needed_ additional packages.. and, wait a little....it will do all the work and then wine is installed.. now, i can't help more because i don't have wine installed, because i don't have or run any Windows programs...so, about all i know it sets your machine up so you can install windows programs...but, i'm not sure how...so, have a read here: http://en.opensuse.org/Wine again, welcome... dd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Two yast icons appeared: one had settings above it, the other had applications. clicked both and got the same result: An Administrator Settings Box. Didn't ask for root password. So I stopped here. Thanks a new window will open, asking for your root (aka: Super User, or System Administrator) password...give it... a new window will open, YaST Control Center...on the left highlight "Software" (it probably already is highlighted) then on the right single click on "Software Management"
a new window will open, and the Software Management will do lots of stuff (for example: it will contact a nearby mirror of the repos, and fetch the list of whats there) getting ready--so, be a little patient, depending on net traffic and the speed of your connection/etc it may take from just a few second to a "little while" (sometimes, but seldom, never)...

now, i can't help more because i don't have wine installed, because i don't have or run any Windows programs...so, about all i know it sets your machine up so you can install windows programs...but, i'm not sure how...so, have a read here: http://en.opensuse.org/Wine

Just started reading the links http://tinyurl.com/32g4nmp and
http://doc.opensuse.org/products/opensuse/openSUSE/opensuse-startup/
for now I picked selected topics and realized I don't have a taskbar at the bottom with menu nor can I access yast and then the 4 repositories listed. So not sure what's with that. I installed from a mirror site and a iso on a cd. Should I do this again? Don't really mind. BTW my pc has removable HDs (SATA) and only one can be connected at a time. With sales, I have 3 HDs with various Linux distros and the "comes with" win 7. Each OS is on it's own HD all alone. So I can start over if need be and get the menu item in the taskbar at the bottom and be able to access yast and the repos as it said in the links. Should I re-install or is there an easier and less time consuming way to do this? Did you ever consider writing a manual for newbies in a .pdf format. You are very good at it from what I see so far. Thank you Denver. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Firstly, I don't use nginx so I cannot help you. However, I would suggest you subscribe to the Spanish speaking list at opensuse-es, where you may get help in your first language. I'd also suggest starting a new thread for your question. What you did was reply to a message in another thread (how to install wine 1.5.7) and changed the subject. This is called hijacking a thread, and is considered bad practice, and it also means your message might not get seen by people who know about nginx.
PD Apologize my English, I don't practice usually.

Bob I am subscribe already in the spanish mail list, but nobody answer my question. Nginx is a package that allow make proxy with pop3 and smtp protocol and another service (http, very fast), this package coming up with opensuse since 12.1 but in the 11.4 are in the repository and work fine. I think that "systemd" are very fast but he need a good revision.

You made no question there about nginx, that word is not in any subject line that I can find, I just searched. You only made a post where you ask about XFCE and there is mention of nginx too in one line, as far as I can see. I replied, and you did not follow.
