I'm not sure just how far you do get with the printer. You might like to check the paper size in the options dialogue. I think it tends to default to 'Letter'. If you have something like A4 size then the printer will often simply not print anything. I have the strong feeling that this is not the root of your actual printer problem but it is worth noting for when the printer is up and running.
